October: A month where India ruled the world of sports
October was one terrific month for Indian sports. And this time it was not just cricket which won India accolades. Delhi dazzled in the opening ceremony of the 19th Commonwealth Games, and handed over the baton to the Indian athletes participating in the games for further glory. Indian sportstars rallied and won 101 medals, to propel India to the second spot in the final medals tally.
Off the CWG pitch, Sachin Tendulkar continued to mesmerize world cricket as he coveted the 14000-run mark in Tests. Sachin went on further to smash 214 runs in the second Test in Bangalore. India found a young star in Cheteshwar Pujara in the final Test. Pujara's positive 72 guided India to a 2-0 clean sweep over Australia.
