Ian Vogel, design lead for AoEO, took the opportunity to post on the official AoEO forums today about Microsoft Studios' plans for the game in the near future. Those changes coming down the pipe are the following:

Legendary mode - new level 40 quests with legendary gear rewards which appear to have some impressive stats.

Defence of Crete improvements - fixed co-op rewards, more level 40 gear and increased rewards.

Persians - civ almost complete, Immortal units and the Cataphracts/armored cavalry, free demo to try out the civ, planned release in October this year.

Skirmish Hall - MS is testing on a daily basis, many configurable options including AI strategy and difficulty.

General Fixes - general co-op and PvP improvements, preventing quest exploits, preventing trade scamming.

No update on the Celts civilization, but I would wager it will be released closer to Christmas time.

I noticed some here at RTSS are not too excited about Legendary gear due to the effect it may have on PvP, so we'll have to wait and see how Microsoft Studios responds to our concerns in the coming days, weeks and months ahead.

You can find the original post by Ian Vogel here on the official AoEO forums.
